Katherine Prumm’s title hopes dashed after practice crash

Pushing past the pain barrier is what Kiwi motocross world champion Katherine Prumm has been doing every day since her freak training crash in May but after another crash her title hopes for 2008 are over.

And now she's back on top of the world. But that ranking won't last for long with news coming thorough from Europe today that the two-time women’s world motocross champion had suffered another training crash and she would be unable to continue with her campaign.

The Franklin Business Women’s Association is recognising her achievements and contributions to the area at a special dinner in Pukekohe this evening.

Spies takes first, Mladin spotlight

SONOMA -- Ben Spies put together a dominating performance on Saturday, leading the Kawasaki AMA Superbike Showdown at Infineon Raceway from nearly start to finish to earn his third straight Superbike victory of the season.

But Spies' effort on the track was overshadowed by Mat Mladin's outburst after the race, as the six-time AMA champion sounded off on new series owners Daytona Motorsports Group and the changes it has proposed for next season.
