Bayliss claimed two third placings in the San Marino round of the championship as on-track temperatures soared to 52 degrees at Italy's Misano circuit.

German Suzuki rider Max Neukirchner won the first race, half a second clear of Troy Corser's Yamaha with fellow...

British rookie Redding becomes youngest Grand Prix winner, aged 15 (Daily Mail)

June 25th, 2008 · Comments Off · Aprilia, BMW, Moto GP / SBK

They came to pay homage to James Toseland at a blustery Donington Park yesterday. But as 88,831 fans drove away at the end of the day’s racing, it was 15-year- old Scott Redding who had turned heads and captured hearts.

The unassuming schoolboy from Gloucestershire became the youngest Grand Prix winner in the 59-year history of the sport by steering his Aprilia to victory in the 125cc class. So shocked was he that when he took the chequered flag, his reaction was born of ignorance of how to celebrate — ‘I thought: “Whoa, what do I do now?” I’d never been in that position before.’...

Blowback begins – AMA Superbike and the Daytona Motorsports Group (DMG) (North Denver News)

May 31st, 2008 · Comments Off · Moto GP / SBK

The blowback from the effort to transform the AMA Superbike series has begun in earnest. In a nutshell, two of the AMA series' stalwart riders have made their opinions known-- Honda rider Josh Hayes (who actually doesn't have a Superbike ride) in his hometown newspaper and Suzuki's Mat Mladin from the podium at Infineon a weekend ago. Both strongly condemned the Daytona Motorsports Group(DMG)approach in apocalyptic terms...

[snip]

And, ultimately, that's why DMG's disfiguration of AMA Superbike racing will eventually fail, if it is not critically...

Spies takes first, Mladin spotlight

May 18th, 2008 · Comments Off · Moto GP / SBK

SONOMA -- Ben Spies put together a dominating performance on Saturday, leading the Kawasaki AMA Superbike Showdown at Infineon Raceway from nearly start to finish to earn his third straight Superbike victory of the season.

But Spies' effort on the track was overshadowed by Mat Mladin's outburst after the race, as the six-time AMA champion sounded off on new series owners Daytona Motorsports Group and the changes it has proposed for next season.

"You saw the best riders in America on the best bikes," Mladin told fans as he was being interviewed in the winner's circle. "Hopefully next year you won't see a bunch of piece of crap motorcycles with...
