Yamaha to Auction Colin Edwards’ Gear for Charity

Cypress, CA - July 2, 2008 - Yamaha Motor Corporation U.S. will once again offer an incredible opportunity to bid for a set of riding gear worn by Colin Edwards at this year's upcoming MotoGP at Laguna Seca. The gear will be presented, in person, by the "Texas Tornado" himself at the Red Bull U.S. Grand Prix. All monies raised will benefit the Joe Parkhurst Memorial Scholarship Fund, a motorcycle industry-based effort to honor the founder of Cycle World Magazine and support the scholarship program of the Pediatric Brain Tumor Foundation. All proceeds from the auction will be used to provide an avenue to a higher education for survivors of childhood brain tumors.

The Colin Edwards package includes a full set of gear worn by the American during the weekend, including Spidi leathers, his Arai Helmet, and Sidi boots and gloves.

This package will also include a pair of weekend three-day general admission passes to the Red Bull U.S. Grand Prix, July 18-20, 2008 at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca, and a pair of passes to an exclusive Team party on Friday evening the 18th.

The winning bidder will be invited on stage during Saturday ceremonies to receive their personally autographed gear directly from the Texas Tornado himself, Colin Edwards.

The auction will be conducted on eBay starting Friday, July 4 and continuing until 12 noon Pacific, Sunday, July 13.

Troy Bayliss increases championship lead

DUCATI's Troy Bayliss survived scorching heat on what he called one of the hardest days of his career to increase his lead in the World Superbike championship today.

Steve Plater Wins Junior TT for AIM Yamaha

Excellent day for Shand in Monday’s TT races

Les Shand had an excellent day of racing at the Isle of Man on Monday, finishing 11th in the Superstock TT and 16th in the first Supersport race to earn himself two more silver replicas. The Superstock result was his best ever finish at the Isle of Man and he put in a total of 4 120mph+ laps during the two races to continue his great week.

In the morning's Superstock race, Les was aboard the Leeds Parcel Company R1 Yamaha and an opening lap of 120.915mph saw him lie in 18th place. However, an excellent second lap enabled him to jump up the order and, with a superb pit stop, and a final lap of 123.920mph, Les completed the four lap race in a brilliant 11th for his highest finish at the TT.

M and M acquires Italian motorcycle designing firm

Mumbai, June 5 : Automotive major Mahindra and Mahindra (M&M) has acquired "a controlling stake" in a leading two-wheeler designing firm, Engines Engineering SpA of Italy, it said in a regulatory intimation to the Bombay Stock Exchange Thursday.

Under the agreement between 100 percent M&M subsidiary Mahindra Systech and the European firm, a new entity called Engines Engineering S.r.L has been formed, with M&M holding a 100 percent stake in it.
