So shocked was he that when he took the chequered flag, his reaction was born of ignorance of how to celebrate — ‘I thought: “Whoa, what do I do now?” I’d never been in that position before.’...

May 31st, 2008 · Comments Off on Motorcycling: Toseland makes a splash in Italian rain · Moto GP / SBK, Yamaha

Story by Gary James in Mugello, Saturday, 31 May 2008

James Toseland, buffeted by a 12th-place finish and a crash in his last two races, yesterday bounced back strongly to finish fifth fastest on a streaming-wet track in practice for the Italian MotoGP round here, even though his fastest time in the first session was only good enough for 13th position overall.

The British rider completed less than a dozen laps in the morning's one-hour session on drying roads, but ...

May 31st, 2008 · Comments Off on Blowback begins – AMA Superbike and the Daytona Motorsports Group (DMG) (North Denver News) · Moto GP / SBK

The blowback from the effort to transform the AMA Superbike series has begun in earnest. Both strongly condemned the Daytona Motorsports Group(DMG)approach in apocalyptic terms...

SONOMA -- Ben Spies put together a dominating performance on Saturday, leading the Kawasaki AMA Superbike Showdown at Infineon Raceway from nearly start to finish to earn his third straight Superbike victory of the season.

"You saw the best riders in America on the best bikes," Mladin told fans as he was being interviewed in the winner's circle. "Hopefully next year you won't see a bunch of piece of crap motorcycles with...

Changes would have big impact on AMA

May 15th, 2008 · Comments Off on Changes would have big impact on AMA · Moto GP / SBK

SAN FRANCISCO -- As is the case at nearly every stop on the AMA Superbike circuit, the Suzuki motorcycles ridden by Mat Mladin and Ben Spies are favored to be the first ones crossing the finish line in both of this weekend's races at Infineon Raceway.

Next year, though, things figure to be a little more wide open.

The Daytona Motorsports Group, which bought the AMA's promotional and management rights in March, is proposing radical changes to the circuit in an effort to create greater parity and a more entertaining product that appeals to a wider audience...

They run an apparel and exhaust systems business and they moonlight as models.
